Ammonium nitrate NH4NO3 (ammonium nitrate) is obtained by neutralization of nitric acid with gaseous ammonia, followed by granulation of the product. In agriculture, it is used as a nitrogen fertilizer. It contains nitrogen in two forms: ammonium and nitrate, 17% each. Universal nitrogen fertilizer can be used as a pre-sowing (main) fertilizer and as a top dressing. It is especially effective for early spring feeding of cereals. To prevent traceability, saltpeter is treated with an anti-tracking additive. Brand A - is used in industry, B - in agriculture.
Ammonium nitrate containing sulfur NH4NO3 + (NH4)2SO4 is a dry mixture of granular ammonium nitrate with a magnesia additive and crystalline ammonium sulfate. Ammonium nitrate is available in two brands: 3S, 6S. It is used in agriculture as a universal nitrogen fertilizer. It is used on all types of soils and for all agricultural crops as a basic, pre-sowing fertilizer and as a top dressing. It contains nitrogen in ammonium and nitrate forms, as well as sulfur in a sulfate form accessible to plants. Sulphate sulfur acts as an indirect fertilizer by increasing the digestibility of hard-to-dissolve phosphates contained in the soil. In addition, the fertilizer contains calcium and magnesium – important elements for plant nutrition.
